Thimbleweed Quilters - Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Thimbleweed Quilters is a program of the City of Rio Rancho Parks, Recreation and Community Service Department.

Meetings: first and third Thursdays of each month        9:30am - 2:00pm
Sabana Grande Recreation Center in Rio Rancho
4110 Sabana Grande Ave SE, Rio Ranch, NM 87124 / office: 505-891-6196

Please follow this link for a map to our meeting location:

There is no fee to attend the meeting. Project fees are collected for the next project if you want to participate. Most often you supply your own materials and pay a small fee for the pattern or extras.

Yearly Membership is through the Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation Department. Cost is $29 a year if you want the newsletter via email or $35 a year if you want a paper copy mailed to you. Please call the Sabana Grande Recreation Center Office: 505-891-6196 or 505-220-1187 to register for Thimbleweed Quilters.

We are an easy-going group of quilting enthusiasts who join together to share our works, stories, techniques, ideas, and friendship. Each meeting begins with a "Hello" and current information followed by Show and Tell. Most meetings we have a class or project to complete presented by our member volunteers or special guest. Participants bring a sack lunch and their own sewing machines and enjoy learning new techniques, completing new projects, and mostly having fun. We hope you will join us.

  1. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of viewing the fine quilting your club members do. Including antique quilts with the old fabrics and patterns was a wonderful idea.

I am in a bind and I'm looking for a seamstress in Rio Rancho to repair a comforter for me. My dog tore a 21" long hole in my friend's "store bought" comforter. My tremors have progressed to the point that I can't trim or sew any more. Would any of your members possibly be interested in taking on the job? I have fabric for a patch and, of course, know the job will be for hire.

Thanks for your help. I can hardly wait until the next show!

  3. I am purging my magazines. I have years and years of different quilting magazines. If I put in box with FREE written on the box, would you like to put open for your members. Thank you. (Lee)
