Updates from Donna

I had several e mails about the supply list for the June 5th meeting. According to Carol it will be in the newsletter, but it includes a hexagon ruler, basic sewing supplies, sewing machine (if you wish to sew there), rotary cutter and mat, iron and fabric ( I used 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 strips) and cotton batting.  (And remember, you don't have to buy a hexagon ruler, we'll have them to share).

And....sign up now for Barbara Gary's world famous 2014 Del Norte Quilt-in  If you've never attended this event, you'll love it...Barbara and her team do all the prep, so you just sew!!

Remember this month has 5 Thursdays so we won't see you this week.

Next week Carol will be teaching her quilt class....please don't worry about buying the template unless you want one of your own, Thimbleweeds will have some we can share.

And Delores Powers is trying to contact a nice Thimbleweeder she met at Joanne's who was looking for a baby quilt panel.

COMMUNITY SERVICE CHATTER

Kathy, Sandy, and I would like to catch you up on the activities of community service. At our Tea in May we presented to Parks and Recreation a quilt for their Mothers Day Tea and one for their Fathers Day celebration. Patricia Raikes made the quilt top and Kathy Lyon did the quilting on the brown and beige quilt for the Father's Day party. Patricia also completed quilt for the Mother's Day Tea.

Linda Littman came to community service and asked for a raffle quilt to be donated to the Rio Rancho Education Foundation. At their annual fundraiser, Seats and Eats our quilt was part of the auction. This event raised over $20,000 for the foundation. Thanks to Linda Littman for allowing Thimbleweeds to serve the Rio Rancho Education Foundation in this way. The quilt that was donated was Patricia Raikes' panel project.

We are grateful to all Thimblweed members who have made contributions to community service. In the coming months you will see an update on all the activities of community service. We also want to recognize all of the members of Thimbleweeds who give up their time to community service by making pillow cases at home or sewing on community service days or donating projects that you have completed.

We have several quilt tops with batting and backing awaiting a volunteer to complete them.  We will be sewing aprons and pillow cases at our June 19th meeting.  Look for sign up sheets at upcoming meetings.

BOM

The BOM pattern for May, ("Swamp Angel")  should state that the 4 7/8" squares are used for the Half-Square Triangle units, rather than the 5 1/4" squares.  The cuts and fabric selections are correct.

Testing Testing...

Hello Thimbleweed Quilters. I am conducting a test to see if anyone is even looking at this blog anymore? Would you please email me (Daryl)...
