Hello Everyone,
I hope you had a great year with Thimbleweed Quilters. We held out last meeting of 2016 on Dec 1st. The Show & tell photos and Finish It! Club! Picture are up on their tab pages. It's been a busy and active year for many of us and we hope to keep the momentum going 2017.
Be sure to attend the first meeting of 2017 on January 5th and help plan the new year by being involved in your favorite aspects of the Quilt group. Our new co-facilitators, Benne K and Irene R are always looking for helpers and ideas. Be sure to check out the Upcoming meetings tab for information on the Jan 5th meeting which is a Soup & Conversation get together.
If you are looking for the cookie recipes from the December 1st meeting, they can be found under their own tab. You will find instructions there about how to copy the pictures to your own computer file for printing.
Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a Peaceful New Calendar Year. Until then, Happy Stitching, Holly P

Hello Everyone,
This blog is updated for September. If you want to review what happened at the Continuous Bias Binding Workshop please check out the Archive of Classes Tab. The information you may need for Hummingbird Camp projects is still under the Upcoming Meeting tab.
I will be unable to attend the October 6, October 20 and November 3 meetings. Faye has kindly offered to take pictures while I am away. I will be in and out during those weeks and will try to keep the written portions of the blog as current as possible. Photos will be updated after the November 17 meeting. I appreciate your your interest and patience.
Happy Stitching!

Hello Everyone,
Updates for Early September have been made. Be sure to see the Show and Tell and the Finish It! Club sections to admire what your sister quilters have accomplished. Also there will be a couple more meetings for you to bring in items for the Kid's Closet at Storehouse West and earn tickets for the fabulous quilt that will be raffled Oct 20, 2016. Please see the photo below for a picture of the quilt and more details. They need pajamas for all ages and sizes as well as socks and underwear. Please help out as much as you can. The bins are pretty bare. I hope you are all enjoying the slightly cooler temperatures now that Autumn is on its way. Happy Stitching, Holly P.

Hello Everyone,
The blog update for early August is complete. We have a few new photos in Show and Tell and in the Finish It! Club. Instructions for the ornaments we made on Aug 4 appear in the Archive of classes. A "what you need" page for the project Jeanne H. is presenting on August 18 is available on the upcoming classes page. Remember to bring in those packages of underwear and socks for tickets to the quilt drawing (see post below). For each pair of socks or underwear you will receive a ticket. If you bring in a package of 6 pairs of socks that's 6 tickets, a package of 3 underwear is 3 tickets, you get the idea. The donations go to the Kid's Closet of Storehouse West.
There are a few spaces left for the Hummingbird Quilt Camp in September. Barb S. needs to collect money by mid August if you want to go. Please see the upcoming Classes page for more details and contact Barb today to negotiate payment and get on the final list.
Happy Sewing, Holly

Hello everyone,
I hope your summer has been going well and you are finding ways of staying cool. I've been busy and away from my computer but am back in the groove - at least a little bit.
You can find updated sections on this blog in the Show and Tell and Finish It! Club sections.
There is information and items needed for upcoming classes at the meetings in the upcoming classes section.
We had some great demonstrations on 4 ways to do flying geese at our July 7 meeting. Those handouts can be found in the archive of classes.
Remember it is time to renew your membership to Thimbleweed Quilters for the next fiscal year. Information on how to do that appears in the Ragweed newsletter.
It also time to register for the Hummingbird Thimbleweed quilt Retreat. The basic flyer appears below and more information on the two classes can be found in the upcoming classes tab.

NMQA Programs
I’m the program chairperson for the New Mexico Quilters Association, and wanted to share with your guild three of our upcoming workshops. We would like to offer places in any of these workshops to Thimbleweeds for our member price ($53.59), rather than the non-member price.
On May 15, we are hosting Barbara J. Eikmeier for a Back Basting Appliqué workshop. Her latest book is Back Basting Appliqué (http://www.shopmartingale.com/back-basting-applique-step-by-step.html). She is also lecturing on Monday, May 16th at 9:30 AM, and her subject will be Just Solids. I’ve known Barb for a very long time, and I can highly recommend her classes.
In June (26 and 27) we are hosting Ami Simms for two workshops and a lecture. The first workshop is Crumb Piecing on Sunday the 26th, and the second is Twisted Sister on Monday the 27th. Her lecture is the evening of the 27th, titled How Not To Make a Prizewinning Quilt.
People can call or e-mail me if they are interested. I’d sure be grateful if you would announce these opportunities to your guild, and I hope to see some of you in one or more of these events.
Thanks very much

Something New
Hello Everyone,
There is something new to see here on our blog every couple of weeks. Show and Tell is a fun section to scroll through to get inspiration and see what your quilting friends are accomplishing. There's a new Finish It Club section highlighting some of the projects that people are completing for the monthly challenge. Upcomimg Classes has information about this year's Spring Retreat happening April 21 and 28. And be sure to share the information about our Outdoor Quilt show in May that appears below. Happy Stitching!

Diane B. Corrections for January 21st class
Machine binding tips
and tricks, January 21st—Diane Bourg
We will be binding two placemats by machine, and I will show
you some tips for making the start/end of your binding “invisible” and for reducing
bulk at the corners.
For this class you will need:
1.
Three Four strips, 2 ½” wide by
WOF for binding
2.
Two pieces of fabric 17 ½” by 13 ½” for the tops
3.
Two pieces of batting (same size as top)
4.
Two pieces of fabric (same size as top) for the
back
Put the 3 layers together and quilt the
placemats before class, but do NOT piece the binding.
OR
You
will also need your sewing machine and walking foot, marking pen or pencil
that shows up on your binding, 6 inch ruler, seam ripper, fabric scissors, and
the usual sewing supplies. Use thread
that matches the binding.
